EquusTherapyWorks
provides equine-assisted psychotherapy and learning services in a
private, casual country setting. Located 30 miles north of the Dallas/Fort
Worth metropolitan area, EquusTherapyWorks is easily accessible to
its clients.
All sessions are conducted using the
EAGALA model, with a two-person facilitation team of a
licensed, professional counselor and a
certified equine specialist. EAGALA is the first and the very best model for this type of therapy, and EquusTherapyWorks adheres to EAGALA's high ethical and process standards.
Equine-assisted therapy utilizes experiential activities, guided by the facilitators, and assisted by the horses themselves. Through these experiential activities with the horses, clients address their therapeutic and life goals. The horses, with their sensitive natures, create powerful metaphors for the clients about what is happening in their lives, and often, how to create better outcomes in their lives. All activities are "on the ground," meaning there is no riding involved. All sessions are in an enclosed arena to protect from inclement weather.
Therapy is available for
individuals,
couples,
families and
groups ages 12 and up.
Also, please give serious consideration to doing a group which is $50.00
per hour. Group sessions last two hours. We have groups for couples whose main issues are
communication
and conflict resolution. We have women’s groups which cover all
issues
relevant to women. When you do group, you have the benefit of
three powerful
therapies – cognitive, equine and group.
